News BENCHPOINTTM WINS INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION WITH "MEASUREMENT PRODUCT OF THE YEAR" AWARD FROM THE USA BenchpointTM, the UK web polling and measurement system created by Richard Gaunt, has been named as the "Best New Measurement Product of 2004". The award comes from the US-based "Measurement Standard", a specialist communications measurement portal. BenchpointTM was launched in the third quarter of 2004. It is a fully-integrated, multi-lingual, web polling system with very advanced features, including fully analysed results in real time. The award states "The simplest way to describe BenchpointTM is "SurveyMonkey* on steroids", but it's more like SurveyMonkey with an internal research department built in. Because the folks at BenchpointTM are experts in research, and have designed their product specifically for communications professionals". BenchpointTM was originally conceived as an application for employee and customer surveys in the corporate sector, but it has powerful potential as a robust, yet simple, system for measuring virtually anything – HR, training and development issues, supplier confidence, shareholder opinion, environmental and safety audits, membership issues etc. BenchpointTM has the potential to start a management revolution. It provides the means to understand, instantly and in great detail, what stakeholders of any organisation think. It enables fast, informed decision making, and allows HR, communications and marketing strategies to be based on real data rather than guesswork. BenchpointTM makes it quick, simple, and at a realistic cost. Its strength is that it can be quickly configured to do virtually any kind of measurement involving the collection of data from thousands of individuals across company and geographic borders. It is ideal for any kind of audit, enquiry , benchmarking exercise or continuous measurement. BenchpointTM is the brainchild of Richard Gaunt, who has held senior jobs in companies like Sainsbury's and Alcan, and has worked internationally as a communications consultant since 1998. The technical brains behind BenchpointTM are a talented team from application developers HurstPark Ltd . It took 18 months to develop. BenchpointTM carried out the first worldwide survey of the PR profession on best measurement practice last summer. The survey attracted over 1000 responses from around the world and the results were presented at The Measurement Summit, held on the campus of the University of New Hampshire, USA, last September. Other projects include "values and behaviours" surveys for an international engineering group,an international audit of sales force skills, knowledge and training needs for a Japanese company, and a survey on business confidence and job satisfaction for an interim management consultancy. Said Richard Gaunt " The system we have created has more power and flexibility; than anything else currently available and enables clients to quickly measure and understand the "soft issues" which frequently determine differentiation and competitive advantage." "Most of BenchpointTM's projects are carried out by a specialist team creating questionnaires and configuring results. All the client has to do is tell us what they want to find out, then sit back and look at the results. A self-service option is available to clients who want to do their own thing. BenchpointTM is currently running two public surveys which readers may like to try. The first is on London parking enforcement, and shadows an official enquiry by the Greater London Assembly -
